WORKSHOP DETAILS
Workshop Fee: $250.00/person for early registration or $350.00/person within one week of class (must be paid in advance). If registering within one week of class you must call Karen Walters at (317) 298.5072 to register.
Class Schedule: 2 day workshop (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily)
Fee Includes: Tuition, workshop manual, certificate of completion, lunch for both days
Travel: Travel arrangements and expenses are the responsibility of the attendee (be sure to ask for our negotiated hotel rates)

Powder Manufacturing
What you need to know about the manufacturing of powder coatings. Manufacturing processes and basic raw material issues. Types of powders that can be produced and limitations.
Powder Chemistries
What formulations of powders are available? Important for all coaters¡what powders are better for specific applications? Technical data for individual powders will be discussed at length, in addition to strengths and weaknesses.
Powder Coating Equipment
This session discusses all topics of part handling and processes throughout your powder line¡from the dry off oven, through cure oven, and everything in between. Additional topics covered are air quality, powder delivery methods, filters, blasting, guns, hoses and anything else you need to know about powder coating equipment.

Powder Application and Troubleshooting
Detailed session, focusing on the application of powder coating to substrates from both a batch and automated perspective. Single coat applications, double coat, and re-coat applications are also addressed. What happens when powder problems arise and how to overcome them (equipment, formulation, and pretreatment issues).
Other items addressed include technical tricks, specialty finishes, primers, epoxy repair kits, blends, metallics, clear coatings and specialty coatings. |

Powder Coating Equipment
(Continued from morning session)
Pretreatment for Powder Coating Pretreatment and cure are critical to achieving a successful result. This session will cover the types of pretreatments available on the market: chromates, non-chromates, iron and zinc phosphates, as well as the new technologies. Learn about pretreatment application methods (including spray wand, immersion, and conveyorized washers). Troubleshooting for equipment, chemistry, and quality testing will also be discussed.

Session is beneficial for plant managers, purchasing agents, and shop owners.
How to Purchase Powder Wisely
Session goes through the process of purchasing powder and exposes the smoke and mirror tricks used in the market place. Specific gravity, transfer efficiency, applied cost and powder selection are addressed. Also includes proper calculations for comparing powders.
Job Costing/Processing
Learn some of the "best practices" used in the market place. While we can never tell you what you should charge to coat parts, we can give you a better idea of how to calculate how much a part costs you to process.
Health & Safety
Details regarding Fire Marshalls, OSHA, EPA, and other safety and environmental organizations. What codes should you be aware of and the importance of planning.
